Film ini mengeksplorasi tema musik yang ditunjukkan sebagai apresiasi atas karya Raja Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej yang dikenal mahir memaikan alat musik. Karya-karya musik sang raja menjadi inspirasi dalam pembuatan film ini. Film ini pada awalnya direncanakan rilis pada tanggal 1 Desember 2016 untuk merayakan ulang tahun Raja Bhumibol pada tanggal 5 Desember, namun sayangnya niat tersebut harus berubah karena Raja Bhumibol meninggal dunia pada tanggal 13 Oktober 2016. Pihak agensi film akhirnya memutuskan mengedit beberapa adegan di film ini dan menjadikan film ini sebagai apresiasi serta penghormatan terakhir untuk mendiang sang Raja. Film Thailand ini merupakan film yang terbagi dalam tiga cerita berbeda namun saling berhubungan. Masing-masing segment didasarkan pada salah satu karya komposisi musik Raja Bhumibol. Segment pertama berdasarkan lagu yang berjudul “Love at Sundown”. Segment yang disutradarai oleh Chayanop Boonprakob dan Kriangkrai Vachiratamporn ini diawali dengan pasangan Beam diperankan oleh Nine Naphat dan Pang diperankan oleh Violette Wautier. Keduanya dipertemukan secara tidak sengaja di acara gladi resik pemberian beasiswa ke Rusia. Pada acara ini, Beam yang merupakan salah satu siswa penerima beasiswa diharuskan berupura-pura menjadi Duta Besar dan berpasangan dengan Pam yang diharuskan berpura-pura sebagai istri Duta Besar. Dari pertemuan yang tidak disengaja tersebut pada akhirnya Beam memiliki ketertarikan yang sebenarnya kepada Pang. Walaupun Beam tahu bahwa Pang masih memiliki trauma kepada pria dimasa-lalunya. Segment kedua ditulis dan disutradarai oleh Nithiwat Tharatorn berdasarkan lagu yang berjudul “Still On My Mind”. Bercerita mengenai Fa diperankan oleh Mew Nittha yang merupakan anak bungsu yang sangat mencintai Ayahnya. Fa memutuskan untuk berhenti dari pekerjaannya karena ingin merawat Ayahnya yang mengidap Alzheimer. Penyakit Alzheimer sang ayah semakin memburuk sehingga ayahnya mulai tak mengenalinya lagi dan hanya mengingat istrinya yang sudah lama meninggal. Fa ingin memberikan hadiah kepada ayahnya sebagai kado ulang tahun perhikahan mereka dengan memainkan lagu favorit mereka berdua yang berjudul Still On My Mind. Karena tak bisa bermain piano, Fa harus belajar pada Aey diperankan oleh Sunny Suwanmethanont yang merupakan tukang penyetel piano langganan ibunya. Kedekatan keduanya mulai muncul karena Aey selalu siap membantu Fa yang selalu berjuang untuk kesehatan dan kebahagiaan Ayahnya. Segment ketiga dan merupakan yang terakhir ditulis dan disutradarai oleh Jira Maligool berdasarkan lagu “New Year Greeting”. Menceritakan tetang Llong diperankan oleh Ter Chantavit yang merupakan mantan vokalis band rock terkenal dan kini memilih menjadi karyawan di sebuah perusahaan keuangan. Di perusahaan yang sekarang, Llong beremu dengan Kim diperankan oleh Noona Neungthida seorang karyawati yang berusaha membuat Llong kembali bermain musik. Keduanya bersama-sama dengan karyawan lainnya membentuk sebuah band dengan harapan pihak perusahaan akan menyediakan ruangan musik bagi karyawan. And that was, essentially, all that was needed for me to sit down to watch it."A Gift" is three different stories that are rather nicely linked together for a great whole picture, and writers Chayanop Boonprakob, Jira Maligool, Nithiwat Tharatorn and Kriangkrai Vachiratamporn definitely did a great job in writing the individual segments and stories as stand-alone stories, but at the same time managed to connect all three stories in a very beautiful story - or segment - is a unique story and one that differs from the other two in the movie, but at the same time they are interwoven and connected in a rather wholesome and beautiful first story is about Beam and Pang, a very unlikely couple that fate brings together for a scholarship rehearsal. They really carried the movie quite well "A Gift" is a watchable and enjoyable movie, I fear that it is a movie that will not easily find a place with everyone in the audience. I enjoyed it, however, and was genuinely entertained with all three stories. However, I would say that if you get the chance to watch this 2016 Thai movie, you should do so, because it is well-worth sitting down to rating of "A Gift" lands on a six out of ten stars.
